Anyone attempting to set up a home office quickly comes to the realization that using conventional office desks and all those chairs from a working office simply will not work. The only way to build a home office that matches the decor of your living area and is still comfortable and functional is to purchase specifically designed home office furniture. How does home office furniture differ from that used in a business environment?

To begin with the scale of most home office furniture is set at around 80% of the working office size. This equates in terms of length and width for office desks to the ability to fit into the available space. In the home office environment that can often be a large walk in closet converted to an office or a space under a flight of stairs. Usually the home office doubles as a home computer center and its fitted into an open corner. Chairs used as home office furniture continue the trend of slightly smaller but functional sizing. This is accomplished by using smaller arm rests and chair backs. The footprint of office chairs used for the home office is also diminished by using a smaller diameter in the base.
