Balancing privacy and productivity by utilizing office screens

As recently as 10 years ago status in the office workplace was determined by having a private office. I suppose to some degree this is still true when one reaches the upper levels of management. But any work area below the corporate suite requires much faster communication than available by pressing a button on an antiquated intercom system. Many workers dislike the stigma attached to being placed in a cubicle as created by an office screen. But these office screens allow for fast efficient communication between stations.

Office screens have evolved to the point where quad workstations can be set up with a set of table dividers between them. This allows teams of workers to communicate instantly and yet have some degree of privacy. Consider also that for those not allowed an executive suite the prior work environment consists in a row upon row of identical desks. This system afforded no individuality whatsoever. Modern office screens allow business flexibility for creation of new departments and to downsize or upsize as economic circumstances dictate. During times of corporate expansion the use of office screens and modular office desks allows one to meet increased demands for such items as support workstations in hours as opposed to previous time limitations of days and weeks.
